Illustration Autoimmunity

In recent years, real progress has been achieved in elucidating the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in the emergence of autoimmune diseases.

Thanks to characterization of new target antigens, more specific and more sensitive markers are now available for diagnostic use. The methods are based on indirect immunofluorescence, radioimmunoassay, EIA, dot-blotting and the Ouchterlony procedure.

BARC’s large panel of tests covers both systemic diseases: lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, myositis, anti-phospholipid syndrome, and organ-specific diseases: autoimmune disease of the skin, kidneys, blood vessels, gastrointestinal tract, central nervous system, endocrine glands, etc.
